Tough Season Enders for Silver Creek, Jeff

In the first game of the semi-finals of the Jeff Sectional, the Silver Creek Lady Dragons, just couldn't keep up with the New Albany Bulldogs. It didn't take long for the Bulldogs to get on the scoreboard and they never looked back. Final score: 9-1

The Floyd Central Highlanders were able to get a shutout over the host Lady Devils. The Lady Highlanders took full advantage of a flat-footed Jeff team. With only one shot on goal during the whole 40 minutes, the Highlanders flattened Jeff, 7-0.

Tonight's final will be a great game between the New Albany Bulldogs and Floyd Central Highlanders. The game is at 7 at Jeffersonville High School.

Lady Devils Move on to Semi-Finals in Sectional

The Jeff Red Devils earned a spot in the Jeffersonville Sectional last night with a win over Christian Academy Indiana. The girls came out on fire! Freshman, Bekah Burgan sent a pass off to Senior Midfielder Brittany Searcy waiting at the top of the 18. Searcy lofted the Devils first goal, and her first of the year, past the CAI goalie a little over 7 minutes into the game, (just as her poor Mom went out to the parking lot to retrieve something from the car)! Great shot Searcy!

The next two points came from Burgan. At the 21:35 mark in the first half a foul was committed in the box by CAI, which gave the Devils a chance at a penalty kick! Burgan took the shot quickly to bring the score 2-0. Then with 4:44 left to the half, Burgan dribbled into the 18. The CAI goalie charged and with a little flick to the left, Burgan was able to dribble around the goalie, who could only watch as she dribbled it into the goal.

During the second half Jeff just wasn't able to find the net again, and allowed Ally Smith of CAI to score, ending the game 3-1. Great job girls! On to the Semi's!

Jeff will face Floyd Central tonight at 8. The Highlanders were able to shutout Corydon Central 5-0, to earn their spot in tonight's semi-final.

New Albany and Silver Creek will play in their semi-final also tonight at 6.

IHSAA Jeffersonville Girls Sectional

Good luck Devils on tomorrows game against Christian Academy of Indiana.

Monday night started the IHSAA Jeff Girls Sectional with North Harrison taking on Corydon Central. It was a tight match right through the half with the teams tied, 2-2. Don't know if NH became tired or Corydon just got hot, but Corydon was able to score five goals in a matter of 15 minutes or so, to end the game 7-2. Corydon will now take on defending Sectional Champs, Floyd Central on Wednesday at 8 pm.

Tonight at 6, Silver Creek will take on Salem. At 8, New Albany takes on Providence for the rematch of the year! NA made a comeback late in the game to take the win over Providence in their regular season match. For me, it's a coin-toss on who will win tonight. Guarantee it will be a great game to watch.

The Lady Devils play tomorrow at 6 against newcomer Christian Academy of Indiana. Make sure you come out cheer on the Devils. Go Devils!

Lady Devils Just Can't Make It Happen

Columbus East was just too fast for our Lady Devils. Keeping the Olympians to 3 in the first half was a good start, but in the second half, we couldn't hold them, nor find the net. The Devils gave up three more goals to end their regular season with a 6-0 loss. It's on to Sectionals next week. Good luck Ladies!

Ladies Last Ditch Effort Just Shy

The Lady Devils started off strong against Madison, scoring early in the game. Bekah Burgan made a run up the middle to only end up at the top of the 18 with three defenders on her. But able to see Sophomore, Alyssa Garcia barreling through on her right, was able to get a quick feed to Garcia, where she pounded the ball low past the goalie.

It wasn't too long that Madison was able to answer with their own goal from an unfortunate direct kick resulting from an unintentional foul away from the ball in play, making the game, 1-1.

Freshman, Shelby West really stepped it up during the game, having multiple, unlucky shots on goal. She just was not able to find the net. During the last 30 seconds of the game, West, in a last ditch effort, dribbled the ball around multiple defenders and chipped a bullet over the goalies head, only for it to find the very bottom of the crossbar and bounce back. Unfortunately no one followed for a rebound and once the Madison defenders cleared the ball, clock sounded and the game ended in a tie.
